|We headed up to Martinsville on Thursday, I think I can smell the hot dogs from here. This is one of our favorite trips each year to our favorite track Martinsville Speedway. The trip was actually not bad getting through Atlanta, Spartanburg, and Charlotte without too many difficulties. We secured a new camping spot this year at an undisclosed location. This web site isn't read by millions on the world wide web but I'm not giving up this location it was too hard to get. We arrived Thursday about 5 o'clock and got our spot on pavement and on a flat surface. We got up Friday and I went across the street to the gas station and got some fresh made biscuits and they were great. We have been rained out of qualifying the last two years in the Fall and I can't believe they got it in with the bad forecast but they did. We invited my mom to come down and she arrived in a rainstorm on Saturday morning. It rained hard but the skies cleared and we got to see a good truck race on Saturday. Our neighbors arrived Saturday and set up. We enjoyed meeting them and competing in some friendly cornhole. It's always great being around people from Ohio. I miss the people and the food but I don't miss the COLD. The skies cleared for Sunday and Donna's friends arrived to go to the race with us. The race was great and watching Juan Pablo race like a maniac was fun. He didn't make any friends on Sunday but I don't think he gives a damn which is what makes this sport great. It needs more people who step on other peoples toes. The official hot dog count for the weekend was around six. My mom had two and I even got Donna to eat two of those fire red tube steaks with chili. We had a great time with our friends and neighbors. Martinsville doesn't have any of the amenities of the other tracks that we have been to, but it is the best for watching a race and watching those guys knock the crap out of each other on every corner and keep racing. We can't wait until next year.
