awesome-just few pics -more talk later.
So, now we are sitting behind the window at B&B in El Chalten and watch the weather- wind gusts up to 100km/hr, sun, rain- all at once.
Torres del Paine.
Day 1-7.12.2009-bus from Puerto Natales to Torres and than walk to the Refugio Chileno. Later in the afternoon we went for the walk up the valley.
Day 2-blue sky, not one cloud!!!-walk up to the Torres del Paine, had a lunch there and than down to the valley, where we just walked around and slowly back to the Chileno.
The staff, food and beds are quite good there-at least we liked it.
Day 3-weather still holding, mostly sunny. Longest walk- from El Chileno to Refugio El Cuernos-only 16KM, but up and down all the way. Some rain later at night. By now we know just about everybody on the W circuit, walking in both directions.LotGermansmans, French, Israelis, Americans, young couple from CR, locals of-courseurse Australians and NZ.Everybody likes to talk and share the experience.
Day 4-day starts with light rain and little bit of wind-and stays like that till late afternoon. So the walk up to French Valley is not on for us and most average hikers. Only couple of young Germans and one crazy Irishwoman made it to the first Mirador- but it was overcast anyway.
So in the evening we all met in the Refugio Paine Grande. We had a few beers with Charles Bonnieonie and their lovely young guide Denise before having dinner with everybody else. Big chunk of roast pork and mash- the Americans were over the Moon, we enjoyed it as well..
Sabina, Americanican roommate from Cuernos, who is a very handy physiotherapist, was busy showing everybody how to bandage and tape the injured joints..
Day 5-mostly sunny, little bit of wind. We walk to the Glaciar Grey Mirador and wait for the clouds to go away so we can take the sunny pictures, but the clouds are closing in, so we walk back to the Paine Grande.
There we fEllenElen Stuart-the crazy Irishwoman, waiting for the confirmation of her buss ticket change, because she wants run and complete the rest of the whole circuit (takes 8-9 days all around) in 2 days!! Well, we did not heard of her since..
Day 6-Mostly sunny, some showers.Took the ferry across the Lago Pehoe to catch the bus to Puerto Natales, back to our Hostel Yagan House where we have the rest of luggageages.
Dinner at Maritimo Restaurant round the corner-excellent fish and seafood.Next morning bus to El Calafate in Argentina.
