White heron behind our coach

Good morning and Seasons Greetings,

As we sit here in our cozy little home watching the squirrels scamper from tree to tree and the flock of robins looking for the worms in the early morning grasses we feel very blessed to be doing what we are doing. We are both eagerly looking forward to see friends, family ,the snow and the Christmas lights back in Edmonton. But the weather is a little extreme back in Canada so we are packing mitts, hats and scarves along with our warmer jackets.

It has been a lazy week here with the rain and clouds we didn’t feel like doing too much. I did have a small craft class of ladies who wanted to learn how to wrap the serving spoons with beads and wire. They all are back to Michaels to get more material and they are making more gifs for friends for Christmas. I did my line dancing with 8 folks from the park and the instructor about 70 yrs. comes from outside the area. We have lots of laughs and a little exercise. I now have the dance steps on paper and a CD with the music to match so I can do it on my own down the middle of the coach!!

We met a new couple that travel for three months and then volunteer for three months. She is a musician who plays a smaller harp that fits nicely in the coach. The Ocala orchestra was performing a concert in the brightly light, square downtown so we planned to have dinner and then watch the show. On our way to dinner we saw the musicians rehearsing in their large white tent but after dinner and a brief shower it seems the band left and all that was left was an empty tent and band chairs. The show was cancelled!

We did however get tickets to see Lorri Morgan (a country singer) at the Silver Springs Park (a Flordia version of Storyland Zoo in Edmonton) It was an 3:00 performance with about 1000 folks sitting in their lawn chairs on the grass in front a beautiful stage on a plantation house front, with huge, white columns and hundreds of Christmas lights hanging from the ceiling. It had been cool so I took mitts, scarf and a hat just in case it got really cool. Well it wasn’t long before I was in tee shirt and jeans it was so humid. What was I thinking………”you’re not in Canada anymore Karen” It was a great concert ,casual and not rushed like most concerts are in Canada………. but 95% of the people were of the older brand! Oh yes, this IS Florida! The park lite up with thousands of lights throughout the trees and gardens after the concert so we had a dinner and walked though the fairyland of twinkling lights. At dusk with the Christmas music playing and hundreds of Egrets perched on the trees along the river that runs through the beautiful trails it was wonderful sight. Sorry no pictures as I forgot to charge the camera!

Today is the last change for us to take advantage of the river at the end of our street and canoe up river for a picnic and float down back home. This time the camera is charged!

Tomorrow we move to Jacksonville for our coach to be services while we head to Orlando to pick up a plane for Edmonton for a 2 week Christmas holiday, with our woollies packed.

Happy Holidays folks!
