The El Rancho was home for movie stars while they made Westerns.

My Room at the El Rancho

Hi -

After 26 years I've left California.

Took a long cross-country drive and just enjoyed the scenery.

Love the old Route 66 landmarks. I stayed in what we used to call motor courts in my distant youth. Only now they're run by friendly couples from India. Go figure. Much more interesting than the chains. Spotless, updated with wi-fi, fridges and microwave.

I've uploaded a few photos of some of the interesting spots along the way.

My new digs are at Sandpiper Cove, Destin, FL - the heart of Florida's Emerald Coast.

That's the Redneck Riviera by another name.

You can check out the complex at www.sandpipercove.com.

May your lives be interesting.
