We left Rome Monday noon and couple of hours later arrived to the delicous city of Bologna. I say delicious because the food is fabulous. I asked the owner of a cafe for his favorite restaurant and he directed us to Trattoria Della Santa. It is run by a family. To our delight, mama made the pasta in the dining room. The guests listen to the menu from the proud waiters while and papa and his brother serve the main dishes and keep an eye on everyone. We were the only turists in the place. We ordered "bollito mixto", an array of stewed or boiled meats, including several parts of the head! I had enough meat to last me the next 12 months! We dedicated this meal to Rick and Trish Peck who love Italian food. The people of Bologna have their priorities right. The central libray has fabulous modern furniture and a cafe! What more can you ask for when you read?
The next day, I took the train to Faenza, a city known for its ceramics and tiles, to visit the Museo Internazionale della Ceramiche. In addition to its permanent exhibit of old ceramics and tiles, the museum also had an exhibit of contemporary ceramics in Italy. Most interesing. Bicycles rule in Faenza. Allen stayed in Bologna to relax.
