Good Morning All,
We are still in Tucson, but planning to leave this a.m. We really love this resort and would love to stay all winter, but………………we must go home. Dave has to get his PSA test and see the Dr. so onward we go.
Forgot to tell you in my last journal entry that one more thing we did while at Barb & David’s. After Jim arrived we went to The Bureau of Engraving and Printing in Fort Worth and took a tour to see how they make our paper money. It was very interesting and we enjoyed it a lot. Tried to bring you all some souvenirs but they have cameras everywhere and there was no chance to grab a couple. Hehe All kidding aside, we were never near the money. The tour took us on a walkway above the operation so we could look through windows down on it all. They did have curtains around caged areas where they do the designing, so it is very secretive to prevent counterfeiting. We could see some of the workers below having their lunches and they have to bring them in clear plastic zippered bags that all look alike. Prevents any one from bringing in something not allowed or taking something out on their way home! ! ! After the tour we went to Amber’s (Jack & Perri’s youngest daughter) poetry memorization competition. She was in the final 20 from her school and she WON. Now I think??she goes on to the next level, maybe district. She did an awesome job and we knew she had it in the bag right after she did her recital. We celebrated afterward by going out for lunch.
Back to Tucson! On Tuesday we met Lidean Steninger’s mom for breakfast at the casino we went to when we were here 6 weeks ago. She is such an amazing woman at 90 years old. You would never ever guess her age. I’m so sorry I didn’t remember to bring my camera so we could get a picture together. After breakfast we did some gambling and lost of course.
That evening we met Renee, Jerry, Chris (Renee’s son) and Terri at the Golden Coral for dinner. Had a wonderful time visiting and especially getting to see Terri again. It’s been quite a while since we have seen her.
Decided to stay one more day after talking to Dolly Swanson on the phone and wanting to see her and Bill. So Wednesday afternoon we went to their house to see them. Bill is not doing so good with his Parkinson’s. He has lots of uncontrolled movement and she said he is starting to have difficulty swallowing. The doctor wanted to do an implant in his brain, but he won’t do it unless they say it will cure him. It won’t, but it could help the uncontrollable movement. Dolly looks just the same, just a little older like all of us. She is so happy that all of her 11 children now live in Tucson again and she had them all at their house for Thanksgiving. With children, spouces, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, they had 57 people for dinner and the 3 that could not make it for dinner came over for breakfast. WOW! Of course like all families, there are those having difficulties with one another, but they all came for her when she sent them each an invitation with the dish they were to bring to share. She was really happy. As usual, she was holding her youngest grand-baby when we arrived as she retired from her job at a lab and now is babysitting a couple of grand-kids. Also Connie is living at home again and Michelle and her 2 children are also living with them since she recently left an abusive husband. So Dolly’s house is filled with cribs, changing tables, playpens, baby toys, etc. I told her they will have to put one on her grave, because it wouldn’t be Dolly if a baby or baby furniture wasn’t around.
Well Dave is back from getting the truck gassed up, so I better end this so we can get on the road. Love to you all. Mom & Dad (Dave and Denise to some)
