This is to be a short entry. So school was great today, classes finished at half 8 for me, leaving the rest of the day free to relax and enjoy the glorious weather. (Finally the sun shone). So what did I do on my day off I hear you ask??
I firstly headed to the bank to convert some travellers cheques into currency. That was an experience. Still speaking little Spanish, I began the challenge in the wrong que. Having then been directed to the correct que, I was served. Yet I screwed up. I wrote the date as the 1st of November 2009, which is clearly wrong, because its the 2nd of December. Never mind, they still gave me my cash, I'm rich, and as for them and my error, oh well, the cashier never noticed.
The afternoon was spent at the beach obviously, enjoying the suns rays. It was high tide at Tortuga Bay, which meant gigantic waves, and plenty of hidden obstacles (aka rocks). These hidden rocks caused great upset, especially when I was forced on to one, cutting my foot open. My foot is now fine, though the conclusion I drew from the event was that, when you can see blood and a damaged body part you feel pain, yet when your unable to see it, you don't. I couldn't´t see the damage inflicted on my foot, thus the pain was minimal. I was able to walk the 3 km home no problem. Even now I feel nothing, though I am no longer sure if that is a good thing or a bad thing.
Tonight is football night, Liga Quito are playing, which means the town has come alive. The bars are full, people are standing on the street trying to get a glimpse at the match. The atmosphere is awesome, even though Quito are losing. I'm sitting here in the Internet cafe, but I can hear the excitement and anguish as the game progresses.
Another thing I have noticed is that its almost Christmas. Decorations and trees are appearing all over the town. I keep thinking its too early, but clearly its not for them, although they could be making a fuss for the tourists. I´m however not complaining.
Anyway that's all I have to say tonight, see told you it would be a short one. I´m now off to pay for my trip to Isabella at the weekend. A weekend full of snorkeling with sharks, penguins, sea lions and other underwater creatures. Horseback rides and lots of sun hopefully...
