Galle Fort's Walls

Galle Beach Party

Streets of Galle

Took a bus for the short trip to Galle, a small, world heritage city of 91,000 people.

An ancient trading port, it’s now recognizable for the sea-side fort built by the Dutch in the mid 17th century. There is a charming, neighborhoody-feel with decaying (and some beautifully restored) colonial mansions, mosques, narrow streets, intact sea walls, and delicious cafes. Lots of locals enjoying the weekend and swimming at the beaches to cool off.
