Jeanne and Laurie will be in New York visiting Laurie's parents during Thanksgiving this year, so they decided to have it early at their house in Kendall and invite their closest friends. I am honored to be one of them.
Laurie's sister and brother-in-law, Connie & Dan came down from Boynton Beach, but Gette had to work and Rosemary had to get her nephew from the airport so they couldn't join us from Palm Beach Gardens. But the party consisted of 15 people, some of whom didn't know everybody, which didn't make me feel so bad. Let's see if I can remember their names at least! There was Barb, Betty, Jackie, Maddie, Joe, Tom, Karen, Terri, and two women who are friends of Connie & Dan's. One has a french name and was born in Hawaii and the other lived in San Jose, CA for most of her life.
The weather was perfect! We all sat around two tables outside to eat dinner together after filling our plates in the kitchen. After hors d'voures of crackers and cheese and pears, a chili-type dish with tortilla chips, and meatballs, we sat down to dinner. The choices were mashed potatoes, two kinds of sweet potato dishes, turkey, ham, stuffing, gravy, corn on the cob, peas and onions, green bean casserole with carrots in it, homemade cranberry sauce, butternut squash, slices of french bread, and cranberry or cranberry nut bread. Then there was dessert of course, consisting of pumpkin, mincemeat, and apple pies!
Because the party was on a Sunday afternoon, there was football to watch - the Miami Dolphins played the early game - perfect for those football fans!
Almost no one took leftovers home, so I have meals for the week! Jeanne had to freeze a lot of it and Connie took some home for them also. Such a great day and I think I have made another friend. Barb lives in Hollywood and wants to take me to a couple of places in her neighborhood. I told her I loved the boardwalk there by they beach and I like the Le Tub restaurant and she hasn't eaten there yet! So I can take her someplace new, too!
