It is so nice to sleep through the night, and to feel great when you wake up in the morning.
We slept with the windows open last night and a fan was running all night.
The “white noise” it generated must have lulled me to sleep right after I turned off the light at 9:30 PM, because the next thing I knew, it was 5:30 and I was rolling out of bed. I know that is way too early for most folks and even worse, those who are retired. What can I say? I like to turn in early and get up early.
The early morning hours are the most enjoyable part of the day for me. Everything is new and fresh, the stillness before dawn is awesome, and I love to watch the world come to life in the morning.
Here in the resort where we are spending the winter, the only sound before daylight, is the sound of crickets. If the breeze is blowing, you hear the sound of palm leaves brushing together, as if they were made of plastic.
Then, as the dawn breaks, about 7:00 AM, the wild parrots begin squawking as the fly from one part of the resort to another. They are beautiful birds but very noisy.
Soon, there is the sound of footprints as early morning walkers are out and about, taking a walk, sometimes with their dogs in tow.
Car or truck sounds soon follow, but they are not often close by, and the sound is muffled somewhat.
Today , we sat sipping our morning coffee, with soft music on the sound system and the fireplace taking the slight chill off.
Once the coffee was finished, we made the bed and did the dishes. Marilyn put a load of laundry in to wash before she took off for a walk.
I went outdoors and put the trash out, then dumped the holding tanks and rinsed the black water tank. I then installed the tri-pod stabilizer under the front hitch. Next on my “To-Do” list was to grab a large screwdriver and tighten the toilet seat. Why don’t those things stay tight?
Someone could make a fortune if they found a way to resolve these small irritations in life! LOL
I played day two of the golf tourney and missed the cut, due to several bad shots. I know “Tiger Woods 10” is only a game on the Wii, but it is fun to play.
I rode my bike over to see Dan & Pat and we talked for awhile. Back at our own RV, Marilyn put the wash into the dryer and then defrosted the freezer.
We are very close to being all caught up on the chores, and we will be in the “Have some Fun” mode when our friends all arrive.
Trips to Mexico for lunch and shopping, more trips to Mexico with the bicycles, crossing the Rio Grande on the hand pulled ferry at Los Ebanos, trips to South Padre Island to eat some great sea food and sit on the beach with a cold drink, watching and listening as the waves roll in to crash on the beach, Cocktail parties, cookouts, exploration adventures in the wildlife preserves, and spending time with friends.
Palm trees, sunshine, margaritas, good food, balmy breezes, fun and laughter, with good friends.
Life is Good!
At lunch time, Marilyn fixed BBQ beef brisket sandwiches, served hot, with sliced onions and dill pickles. Yummy!
I will cook dinner on the grill this evening.
The breeze has returned and the bugs are gone. I’ll take the breeze any day! It was an awesome day today!!
After lunch, Marilyn went out to lay in the sunshine for awhile. I sat in the shade reading a book until I felt sleepy. I came inside, turned a fan to blow on me, and took a power nap in my recliner.
That is pretty much a typical day in our “Retired” life. Hope it didn’t bore you too much.
We just have to wait and see what tomorrow has in store…..
