we had a beautiful drive to the town of Cuenca. switchbacks all the way and we ended up at 8,500 feet. really cute town. stopped for lunch on the way, and apparenty we got the wrong place. it was truly ecuadorian so we have no idea what we ate, but it was good.
after checking into a 5 star hotel, we drove to the local rotary club building (they own it) to assemble 100 wheelchairs. incredibly, they had stored them upstairs! we had an assembly line to slide the boxes down the winding stairs. we´re so good now, we had it all done in 1 1-2 hours. tomorrow we distribute to the people here, and i hope it goes better than Guayaquil!
i still can´t talk. i know a lot of people would say thats a good thing -but its driving me crazy! now i know what my dad went thru. throat bad and now i´m getting stuffed up again. we walked at a fast pace during the day for a quick 1-2 hour of shopping, and i definitely had shortness of breath. i hope to god i don´t have h1n1, because i would hate to give it to a whole busload of people.
tonight, i´m staying at the hotel while the others have gone out. i wanted to catch up on all my emails and blogs, upload more pictures, and early to bed. however, it appears my hard drive on the laptop may have crashed and i cannot access it. i´m going to give a good effort to find a computer repair person here tomorrow, but it doesn´t look good. so there are no photos to post!!! this is the hotel computer and they´ve disabled all the USB ports.
oh well....
