To begin with, this would have been much more arduous if Sam hadn't been so incredibly generous to come up to Vancouver for the renegade PoLS and then give me a ride to Seattle. He also helped chauffeur me around to get all those last minute things before heading out of town. Thank-you! Thank-you! Thank-you! Sam, you are a ROCKSTAR and don't let anyone try to convince you otherwise.
My amazing friends planned and executed a surprise bon voyage brunch on Sunday. I was none the wiser, but it probably helped their cause in that I can also be pretty oblivious. Thank-you Heike for being the hostess with the mostest, and to everyone that was able to attend. I was extremely touched by your love and support. I also received a group farewell card that made me cry! But don't let you think that I'm a big softy or anything. :p
While running about town to get the last minute stuff Sam made the "obvious" observation that Vancouver has a lot - and I do mean a lot - of no left turn intersections. This led me to surmise that several of the city planners must be afflicted with the same terrible handicap as Zoolander. Perhaps this should be investigated and a foundation created to help these poor unfortunates. Won't one of you find it in your hearts to reach out to this ignored and marginalized group?
What did I forget to pack? I have no idea yet but I did manage to include my climbing harness and shoes. A total luxury item I know but I'll be damned if I going to miss out on climbing in Thailand due to a lack of equipment. I have most likely over packed though as I have never done this type of trip before.
