They don't celebrate Halloween in the DR however there are local parties celebrating Halloween hosted by gringos lined up for tomorrow. Wisely, I think Dave and I will be laying low this year.

We just got back from a 23 day "vacation" at an all inclusive place in Santiago. All I am saying is that I obviously need to be VERY specific when I say I want to take a little trip away from Luperon next time! The all inclusive getaway ended up being our friend Dr. Oscar's private clinic. Dave said he needs to work on his Spanish because he thought he ordered a bottle of nice French wine and ended up with a case of Fornier's gangrene. (Dave says to explain that it's a diabetic thing involving testicles. Enough said)

Since we arrived back in Luperon, we decided we should finish some interior work on the house. As you can see from the pictures, a carpenter from Alta Mira, Manuel Diaz, and his guys spent the past two days installing our shelving and cabinets in the kitchen, pantry, bathroom and bedroom. All the pictures were taken while work was still underway. We think he did some pretty good work considering nothing is square or level in the house and everything had to be custom trimmed to fit on site.

We have a new house being built down and to the right of us. When we left for Santiago the land was undisturbed grazing land, 23 days later the house is nearing completion. They are working 7 days a week from 7am till 5pm or later. We are not sure what the hurry is about but it's interesting to watch the progress. Our friends the Havemen's below us have their house coming along nicely but at a more normal pace.

Quite a few boats left the harbor while we were gone. Most everyone has headed on to Puerto Rico and beyond except for those of us that will be here through hurricane season. Speaking of...this has been a fantastic hurricane season. Let's hope it ends as uneventfully as it has been the past few months.

Take care of you and your loved ones and never take your good health for granted.
