In answer to your guestion Jean, some of the people did try a small piece of the tarantula. Said the leg was very hairy and hard to swallow.
This morning we went to a local market where we were supposed to buy ingredients for our home hosted lunch. Our guide wrote out what we needed to buy but he wrote it in English and we had to ask the local people where we could find it. Turned out to be oyster sauce, garlic and lotus greens. The people were laughing along with us as we tried to find the items. We then went to visit the school sponsored by our travel company. The kids sang us a couple of songs and then we sang a song for them, can't remember what is was, but it was a great hit as they knew some of the words and sang it with us. The kids then walked with us to their village where we saw how they make reed baskets. Then we went with the family we were going to eat with. Our group of only 4 had decided we were not hungry so we talked with a girl in the family who spoke excellent English. She is the older daughter of about 25 years old. she then took us on a tour of the village and to a local temple where she sells things. The walk was quite enjoyable. Got pictures of the local children. My disappointing new is that I didn't get to go up in the balloon at Angkor Wat. The person at the front desk called to see if the balloon was going up and they said no as it was raining and windy. So my afternoon was basically wasted. I did take a tut tut to a local market but didn't see anything I wanted to buy. There was an ice cream store I planned to walk back to while at the market, but it was dark and I must have come out the wrong side of the market, as I never found the place. Finally took a tut tut back to the hotel. Well I'll close for now, only one more night here and then back to Bangkok for the ride home.
Love Ollie
