Our first full day back in Port Orford was a mix of fun and misery...fun for me, misery for my dear wife. The cold that I slept through in one day has hit Juanita with a vengeance and she isn’t a happy camper at the moment.
She was doing OK early this morning so we joined a group of friends at the annual Port Orford fireman’s pancake breakfast. For just a $5 donation firefighters filled a plate with ham, eggs and thick hot pancakes. I couldn’t help myself and headed back for seconds on the pancakes. ☺
Soon after returning to the park, Tim and Cindy helped bring our wooden stairs up to a suitable level for our home on wheels. Bodie is especially happy with the setup and even spent some time resting on the carpeted deck outside our front door. He won’t be happy at all when we leave and he has to go back to the steep metal RV steps.
Juanita’s condition deteriorated as the day progressed and I have sent her off to the bedroom for additional rest. She wants to go, go, go…all the time. I might have to tie her down!
A big storm is building off the coast but left us one more beautiful day of off and on sunshine and a temperature in the low 60’s. Even if the government forecast doesn’t rise to full expectations, tomorrow promises to be rainy, windy and cooler. Maybe the storm will miss us. ☺
Regardless of the weather, I hope to join Tim tomorrow for his temporary day job in the cranberry bogs. This is his second year of short-term work hauling cranberries for a little extra Christmas spending cash and I see this as a perfect photo opportunity. I look forward to posting the results on the journal tomorrow evening.
According to their journals and blogs, most, if not all, of our travel friends are pushing south to warm winter locations. We want to wish all these good people safe travels and happy reunions with friends. We hope for, and expect, photos of smiling faces, parties and sunshine adventures.
As for tonight, I am sure chicken soup is on the menu…at least for my dear wife. She is rarely ill and I’m certain that she will bounce right back.
I am looking forward to Juanita’s recovery and my cranberry adventure tomorrow………………………..
