Traveling with Carol, Lou & Beau ...........

We had 237 miles to go, so we were up on time and ready to go.

The road to the Grand Canyon through the Kaibab National Forest was around 54 miles long once we got off I-40. We entered the park at the southern entrance, and then drove the 10 miles to the Grand Canyon Village South Rim RV Park, where we were going to stay. The RV park itself was adequate, as it had 84 sites, and they were pull-thru, full-service, which is very unusual for a National Park. After getting settled in, we were surprised to see some large deer roaming through the RV Park - they were not afraid of people in the least. Everyone was warned not to feed them (darn!). We made plans to visit the Canyon the next day, which turned out to be another beautiful day. Thank goodness we went this day, as the next day was cloudy and raining ...... rather miserable.

A train goes in to the NP from Williams, (I believe), and there were also free shuttle buses running constantly all day/evening long, but we decided to drive over to the Canyon ourselves from our park (a couple miles) and park so we could come and go as we wanted.

We were SOOOOO awed by what we saw. Our pictures will show those who were never there. All Lou could say was "WOW"!! On the way back to the park, we stopped at one of the lodges and had a nice early dinner, cafeteria-style (quite a cuisine selection was available) - good food too.

The park celebrates its 90th anniversary. The park was in beautiful shape - so well taken care of and appreciated by all of the visitors and workers. One can tell, the pride! We absolutely enjoyed our visit - once more we really had no full idea of what we would be able to see, but we were once again amazed. As Americans, we can be so proud of our Country and what is here in the USA. Goodness!!

Halloween is coming - so everyone have a good one. We will not be participating...just hiding out - :-)

We think of you often -

Much love to each of you ............. Xs & Os galore!!!!!
