I've been out in the country now for more than a week. The couple I'm living with have such good hearts. It is wonderful to see the projects that they have initiated to improve the living conditions of the people in their community.
Some things I've learned:
Mosquitoes love me.
Wealth can be measured by livestock. For example, a family with 2 fully grown cows is rich.
Children tend to be happy everywhere.
I can survive on rice, vegetables and meat although coffee and sugar make me pretty happy.
A night on the porch talking and singing songs can be more fun than vegging out to the tv.
We have gotten some results back from our study. It seems like the vitamin deficiency that we are looking at may be widespread and may not have a quick fix. This is exciting for me though as it means developing community programs to improve nutrition.
I will leave for the city on Thursday. More then!
