| It was supposed to be breakfast on the beach but we didn't get up in time to get to McDonald by 10:30am. Hey, we only missed it by 15 minutes! After driving around for a while and not finding any place to pick up breakfast, we ended up picking up a couple of Wendy's sandwiches and drove out to the beach. We parked, ate our sandwiches and walked a bit on the beach before heading out. I was so proud that I saved my coupon from the Savannah Trolley for a $2 discount on the St. Augustine trolley until they asked for the receipt. Of course I didn't have the receipt, you MUST read the small print! So we paid full price and jumped on the trolley. We got off towards the end at stop 17 out 22. We walked to St George street in the middle of town. This street is closed to vehicle traffic so it is a nice place to walk around and explore all the souvenir shops and a local craft shops. Since Gene isn't into walking so much, we found the Old Mill Tavern, had some chips and salsa with a beer and diet coke. Now we just have to figure out where the trolley stops are and where to get back on so we don't have to ride the full hour and a half again back to the parking lot. It took us a while, but of course Gene figured it out, anything to keep from walking. After a quick run to the grocery and liquor store we called it a day to go home and watch the sunset over the inlet through the palm trees. What a lovely sight! |
