Well, I pooped out last night and thgee-king was geeking out (as Jacob would say). So I though I would send this out this morning but NOOOO…not enough time to download pictures since we are heading for Las Cruses, New Mexico.
Now that we are in Las Cruses, wi-fi isn’t working here at Sunny Acres RV Park. So this will have to be continued tomorrow after we arrive at Fort Stockton, TX.

Well, we changed our plans today as we approached the point on I-10 where it splits and I-10 goes south and I-20 goes north. We talked about the extra expense of the truck repair and decided that we should cut out the portion of the trip going south to the Gulf where we were going to see my cousin Charlene’s daughter and meet up with our friend Billy and his new wife Peggy. Instead we decided to go straight to Barbara’s. After we arrived at Midessa Oil Patch RV Park, we unhooked the truck to go to the store. Since there are no grocery stores in Midessa and it is halfway between Midland and Odessa (yup took a brainchild to make up that name.), we decided to go to Midland. On the freeway as our truck reached 65 to 70 mph, the front wheels started bouncing like the wheels were unbalanced. Thought we would have to go in and have them check the wheels when we got to Barbara & David’s.
October 21, 2009 (Would have been my Mom’s 92nd Birthday today.)
Well it POURED rain last night. We woke to a lake at the front of the rig. Checked the internet and the storm was moving towards Barbara’s with a 100% chance of thundershowers for the next 24 hours. Decided not to leave here today and instead Dave would take the truck in to check the balancing of the wheels. Well, to cut to the chase, the alignment is good, the balance of the tires is good BUT we had a problem with 2 of the 4 ball joints and they needed to be replaced. SOOOOOO nothing else we could do but bite the bullet again to the tune of $870. Dave said the truck drives like a new truck now…….After all the money we have poured into it lately, IT SHOULD! ! ! ! Oh yeah, Dave said, we do need to get new shocks soon too. But we can wait on that until after we are home……..and recoup from all that we have done already.
Well, Dave heard from Barbara while he was at the mechanic’s. I can’t believe what all has been happening. I feel like we have been traveling in some kind of bad news warp. Barbara got news this morning that Jack & Peri’s house burned down last night. Jack is Barbara’s son and they have 2 girls. Thank God they are all OK. We told Barbara we were okay if she wanted to go down to Ft Worth to see the kids, but she said no; there is nothing she could do there. So if all goes well and the creek don’t rise, we will be leaving in the morning and heading to Barbara’s.
I am going to attempt to send you all a couple of pictures from the Reunion. We had a great time, especially Dave and Lidean. They really did a fabulous job with all the planning, decorating, prizes, music, etc. We danced, laughed, and thoroughly had a great time. I’m so glad we went.
Well, better close. Will talk to you tomorrow after we get to Barbara’s…I hope. Love you all and miss you. Hope your hand is better Justin.
Love,
Mom & Dad (alias Denise & Dave)
