You have to know Jack well to appreciate this, but Jack insisted on going out for breakfast before starting out for the next day. Emily and Anthony aren’t big on breakfast and didn’t plan on going with us. I set the alarm for 5:15 since the restaurant opened at 6:30 and Emily wanted to get an early start to see as much as possible. Jack was mentioning a few explicatives over and over like I should kick your ass, I shouldn’t be allowed to make any decisions on my own and blah, blah, blah for setting the alarm so early. I couldn’t believe Emily and Anthony were sleeping through this. I took my shower and Jack took his, now it was about 6:10. More grumbling! Jack and I went out for breakfast, while Anthony and Emily got ready. When we got back, Emily was imitating what Jack was grumbling about earlier that morning, obviously they didn’t sleep throught it - it was hilarious! It was one of the best laughs I had in a long time! Jack was quiet and didn’t have anything to say!!
We drove toward Midway Geyser Basin, and with the cold air outside and the steam of the geysers, it was pretty foggy. We decided to take a drive up to Firehole Canyon Drive. We spotted an osprey across the river. Got some close-ups at Midway Basin, then went on a short hike to get a better view of the Grand Prismatic. Emily has a lot of Jack’s genes – they’re both part billy goat climbing all over the hills and rocks.
