Sue and Kim Trying Not to Get Kidnapped in South America travel blog

Tiburon!

We're practically pros... :)

Daniel had to hold his breath for SO long to take this

Almost like synchronized swimming...right?

So we didn´t get the kitesurfing lesson, although we got a pretty impressive show. We also got VIP access to one of the nicest resorts on the island from our friend, Daniel. One of the perks of this was elite view lounge chairs and free drinks and food! A very nice change of pace from the cheap hotels we were staying in the first few nights. Daniel then took us out for snorkling (also free) on the massive coral reef just off the island. It was hands down the best snorkling that Kim and I have ever done in our lives. The coral structures were simply amazing, truly was an entire underwater world full of fish and plants and corals. Kim and Daniel even saw a huge shark! I was slightly farther away and so didn´t get to catch a live glimpse :( Just knowing that it was there in the water so nearby was still a little unnerving, but from what they said it didn´t seem scary or threatening in any way at all. They think it was a bull shark, but we´re not sure. I will be able to upload pictures of the entire adventure (including a great shot of the shark) in a day or two.

The wind died out on the way back so Kim and I were delegated to row the skif back to the resort on our own, luckily the waves were on our side and it wasn´t too tough of a journey! The overcast, yet still hot and humid weather continues, we just got back to Cartagena an hour ago and have decided to hop directly on an overnight bus to Medellin arriving at 7 or 8 am tomorrow morning. Hope everyone back home is doing well, keep in touch!
