Overall we have to say we DID ENJOY our summer stay in the Northwest (Oregon & Washington), though living there is NOT our "cup of tea", we'll return in the future to wage a "grudge match" against wilyiley salmon and see some sites we couldn't see this time through. Couldn't see, due to Dave's injury when he fell on July 25 and was laid up for essentially 6 weeks. Privatelydiscusscuss between the two of us, our discomfort and dislike for the seemingly constant fog, drizzle, cold, clouds, mold, moss, mildew . . . This short 1 week stay at Elkton backed up to the Umpqua River has been fun and relaxing for us. Dave fished nearly everyday and sometimes twice though, once again the waters didn't produce any salmon. For a summer trip that was supposed to be fishing galore and hopefully "catching" galore was pretty much a bust in that respect. Oh well! We did see alot of wildlife that we hadn't seen before at this stop. Dave spotted a "family" of 6 river otter and a beaver while fishing, Becky saw a golden eagle, several great blue heron, several river otter, turkey and osprey. Soooooo, tomorrow we leave the NW and begin our southern migration in earnest by crossing the Califorstate lineline. We'll stay the night at Hat Creek.
