Just a quick stop in Dijon as not particularly keen to wander the Burgundy vineyards on my own and there isn't too much to keep me here otherwise. So am instead off to Avignon for a week or so - plus some travel around the district to various exotic sounding spots (at least I hope they are).
Probably ended up a day too long in Blois as I didn't get out too much into the countryside as couldn't find a place to hire bikes and couldn't find any enthusiasm for the project either. Ended up going to the Chateau in Blois which initially I wasn't going to do (as have seen a couple of the best in Chatsworth and Versaille) but was well worth it as the medieval section was brilliant. Also - all the shops were shut and I didn't have much else to do on a fairly wet and grey day!
After a budget splurge in Amsterdam and Paris I am getting back on track again - thankfully - or else at that rate my 6 months would have become 6 weeks.
Dijon seems a nice city - about 230,000 pop so certainly a bit more lively than Blois (not that I prefer a busy city). Still a lot of medieval buildings in the city centre to make my ambling around town interesting. The camp site is great - for one thing its only 4.70 euros a night! Also its only about 1.5km away from the city centre along a canal/river so easily walkable.
I leave at 6.30am tomorrow by TGV - so it may be an interesting tent-packing exercise.
Coping on my own just fine - although am worried at the number of entries I am making in my diary. I will be carrying around about 30 books at this rate! Will get bored of myself soon - which might be worrying. Sadly also - I don't think they will be very interesting to read in 20 years time either - so perhaps will have to make something exciting up to keep the reader's interest!
That's all for now.
