Dick & Pat's full-Time RVing Adventures travel blog

Today was a cloudy and frequently rainy day. Temps were in the 40's. About 11:00 a.m. the power at the campground had gone out. Tried calling the office but no answer.

Our neighbor camper was also checking on his power and we talked for a time. They had come north for the fall colors. They had been all the way up to Maine and he said it had been warmer there than it was here. On Oct. 13 it had been in the mid to upper 50's and they had gone riding on one of the many bike trails here. He was debating whether or not they would stay as long as they had planned. The neighbor had driven up to the office earlier and they told him that the power company had called and said they were doing some maintenance on the power line and that power would be out for an hour or so.

Given that, we decided to drive the pickup into town to get soem Diesel fuel, do some shopping and have lunch. When we got back I stopped at the office. Power had been restored. More rain and some snow was coming down by now. This deteriorated to sleet later in the afternoon.

The trees are getting some color but are not at their peak yet. The countryside here is rolling hills and small farms. Very pretty, but would be even better if we had some decent weather.

I put up a tarp over the dogs pen to try to keep them dry. About 3:00 I put some of the dogs out. They still did not like it much and wanted to come in after only about 10 minutes. Brought them (girls) in and then put the rest (boys)out. They did not like it much either and before long they also wanted to come in.

Later in the evening we went through another round of putting dogs out ony for them to want to come in very quickly. Predictions were for a freezing temp over night and we were advised to open the grey water tank and leave a cold water faucet running through the night to keep the system from freezing.
