Travels with Holly - The Big One travel blog

visit to the Museum of Appalachia

A discussion with friends, Sarah and John Hallstrand

One of our activities on this year-long trip is to visit family and friends around the country. Amazingly, we had three stops with friends that were close together - Atlanta, then Loudon, TN and Nashville, TN.

I made friends with Emily Moon (Atlanta) in graduate school at Florida State.

I made friends with Sarah Hallstrand when I worked for the American Baptist Churches.

It was to her house and husband, John, that we traveled to after our day in Chattanooga.

John and Sarah have retired to Tellico Lake in Loudon, TN. The area is close to the Smokies and very beautiful.

Again, we stayed in their home for two nights. Holly, our dog, age 8, made friends (sort of) with their miniature Schnauzer, Zoe, age 2. Zoe wanted to play with Holly and Holly said ruff!

We went to church with Sarah and John and then we went out to eat at a good barbecue place called Famous Dave's, Our Sunday afternoon activity was a visit to the Museum of Appalachia just north of Knoxville.
