Up early to catch the train from Berlin to Warsaw. The Berlin-Warsaw express takes six hours. It only stops a few times and at the border to Poland the locomotive is exchanged for a Polish one. The 1st. class compartment was very comfortable and the dining car had excellent food. I did read a lot on this trip. Currently I am reading Richard Dawkins' book "The God Delusion". He is one of my favourite authors and certainly makes a lot of sense in this crazy World we live in. (Read it - you'll like it) I arrived in Warsaw early afternoon and went straight to my hotel - it is the Ibis Hotel (Old Town). The hotel is quite nice but the staff at the desk are not very friendly towards foreigners. The crew in the restaurant are more helpful (hoping for tips, I presume). I quickly changed into my shorts and sandals and started my walk towards the "Old Town". The distance was longer that I had expected but the exercise was good for me after driving and sitting in a train for days. I walked a lot and saw all the "old" buildings and ended up at the Plaza in "Old Town". This square or plaza is quite large and it had sidewalk cafes and restaurants circling the perimeter. I was enticed to taste a dish made with local mushroom in a cream sauce. It was a delicious as promised and followed by a large grilled trout course. I was sitting there ouside until it was quite dark after 21:00. I walked back to the hotel very tired after all that walking.
