The view from our campsite

A quarter turn in the other direction

It rained almost all day on our Saturday in Broadway, VA. We did take a short drive to nearby Timberville to attend their Heritage Day. The rain let up long enough for us to sit on bales of hay and watch an Elvis impersonator and a Bluegrass group. We finally got so cold and damp we had to give up and go back to the motorhome. On Sunday morning the sun was shining for our next road trip south. When we arrived at the Fort Chiswell RV Park in Max Meadows, VA it had turned into a beautiful day. Max Meadows and Fort Chiswell are near Wytheville, VA and not too far from North Carolina. The Fort Chiswell RV Park is very close to I-81, it is a real nice park. When we got here at around 1:00 PM the park was deserted but by nightfall the entire park was full of other travelers. Most travelers just spend the night here and then move on. We are going to stay a week, check out southern Virginia, chill out and get ready for the next short trip.

From the campground we can see a huge red roofed outlet mall so we decided to take a run over there to check it out. The mall that at one time contained 35 stores now has about 6, a sure sign of the depressed economic conditions. It took us about a half hour to check out the entire mall. There are three large antique malls nearby so we spent the rest of yesterday scoping those out. We really enjoying poking around in those, you just never know what kinds of interesting stuff you might see.
