Today was a travel day and as usual, we were excited to get going. The morning was crisp and clear with the smell of fall in the air. I couldn't help but take a couple of pictures of trees, in spite of my promise not to this year. I love the green trees with red tips. I'm sorry. I just couldn't help myself.

We traveled further south out of Pennsylvania back into Maryland and into West Virginia, a state which we have not been in before. We will miss Ohio, Connecticut and Rhode Island on our trip to the East Coast this time. Today's journey into West Virginia marks a total of 37 states which we have visited to date.

Tonight, we are staying at yet another KOA in Harper's Ferry West Virginia. The park is located at the entrance to the national park, which we will explore tomorrow. This is a typical KOA and another one that is not particularly pretty and we will rate this one an 8. It does have the most fantastic laundry facilities I have ever seen in an RV park, however. It is sad that I get so excited over a laundromat, but it was nice to be able to do all of the laundry in record time, for a decent price, with excellent machines. I am easily pleased.

We both wondered why we found New York State and Vermont so beautiful and Pennsylvania not so and John noticed that there are billboards that line the freeways in Pennsylvania. We do love the farms in Amish country but the rest of the state we thought was just ugly, at least from the highway. There are no billboards in Maine, Vermont, New York or New Hampshire. We will wait to judge West Virginia as we explore it further.

The KOA staff here told us that they are already booked solid this coming weekend as the weather guessers have indicated the peak fall colors will begin then. I am not sure where we will end up staying. We may have to try our first overnight parking at a Walmart.
