I woke up to a rather bright day (must have been good all year - my birthday). Had a light breakfast in the hotel's restaurant and was hoping that Gertrud from Toronto would have been there (she was also staying at the hotel over-night) but I did not see her. She and I were the only "foreigners" in our graduating class. I drove slowly through town once more and saw all the old places where I spent my youth and took a photo of our old home (looked very small now!) I thought back to the many Saturday night dances at Hotel du Nord back in the late 1950ties. We danced to "Rock around the Clock" and many other similar tunes - I just loved to jive - oh, those days are gone - forever!!! I arrived early at my brother's cottage at Klitmøller and they were preparing a fancy lunch. Soon everyone showed up from Skive. My nephew, Sten, and his son, Mikkel, and my niece, Tine, with her husband Jakob and their two beautiful daughters, Smilla and Merle. Jakob's parents Hanne and Arne were also invited and lastly my cousin Villy and his wife Gurli from Fredericia. You can imagine the luncheon table with all the usual Danish delicacies!!!! Not a good thing for my waistline!!! Hanne had baked a delicious Danish Kringle in my honour. After all the food and drinks were enjoyed we all walked through the dunes to the beach. That Vesterhav (North Sea) is brutal and the waves were meters high. The children loved it and Grethe and Evan even started undressing and go wading in the chilly water! We also went down the road to look at a nice old house that one of my clients, Inger Dalgleish, from Peachland had purchase last year. She travels there a couple of times a year to enjoy the tranquillity of the West Coast of Jylland. We returned to the cottage and then of course more food! We had a cheese buffet with all types of cheeses with more great wines. Around 21:00 all the guests and their children headed for home. We, Grethe, Evan and I, soon went to bed after all the dishes were done and the clean-up after a great party. I received several birthday gifts and felt they had done far too much!
