Ireland to Istanbul and dancing in BA travel blog

Dobra dan

We've made to Dubrovnik - the most beautiful city in the world (or at least the most beautiful city we've seen so far!) We tackled a few more unbelievably high hills along the coast of Croatia (SPECTACULAR VIEWS) then settled down to several days of relaxation and fine food and wines on the island of Korcula. It was then we decided that we really should say goodbye to mountain climbing and hello to the fabulous Croatian ferry system! So we took the ferry to Dubrovnik for a couple of days. Dubrovnik is an incredible old city with a million (literally) stairs going up the narrow, steep streets. We didn't know that when we booked a guest house at the top of a hill and had to carry our bikes up!! Doris Eggers, you should have warned us!

We'll head back up the coast to Split (tomorrow), then take the ferry across to Italy and then to Cesme (a three day trip) on the west coast of Turkey. It will be hard to say goodbye to Croatia, we've totally fallen in love with this country. But, new adventures (and new types of food) beckon.

Weather has been beautiful and we've discovered some fantastic new wines and will be scouring the liquor stores for them when we get back. Richard has also almost had his fill of tiny fried fishes, which he eats at every meal.

We have mastered all the important words one needs to know in Croatia - coffee, beer, wine, ice cream, big (as in big coffee, big beer, big ice cream) and thank you, so I guess it's time to go.

Dovidenja for now!
