Evening Light - Montepulciano

Stopping along the road for pictures

We visited the famous town of Cortona where the story, Under the Tuscan Sun was centered. It was the only town where we found escalators up from the parking lot, probably in tribute to all the Americans that pilgrimage there after seeing the movie. We wandered the town streets, had an exceptional lunch, stumbled on another wedding and bride, and visited a church with a relic of St. Francis - one of his tunics.

We then let the GPS blindly guide us to Montepulciano, home to our new favorite red wine - Nobile de Montepulchiano. This was sort of a wine pilgrimage. We knew it would be a short visit but we wanted to see the famous wine cellar and taste some of the products. Montepulciano is one giant hill. From the bottom it is straight up hill the entire time. We bought some wine and headed out at the time of perfect evening sunlight, so the picture taking slowed our trip back to home base. Dinner was waiting in Titignano.

Enjoy the photos
