Vincent Family Balkan Adventure 2009 travel blog

Greetings to all from Mostar. We have finished our tour around Mostar City Center. There is still lots of damaged buildings, many are restored some of them amazingly restored. the people are very kind and helpful. You will never be hurried to finish your meal, pay and go. You will not even be give a bill until you ask for weather you are having a 10.00 km meal or a 2 km coffee or beer. There are a lot of tourists here during the day, many from Germany as this was part of the Hapsburg Empire. A lot of the people speak German as a separate language rather than English. The people are better off here than at first appearance. This is a city of 100,000 where most everybody goes about their daily business just as we do. However there are sidewalks and buses everywhere so you don t drive everywhere as we do. We will have more to report after dinner tonight. The Ramadan fast ends at about 7:09 pm and more people will be out. We travel to Sarajevo tomorrow the 17th. Plans have changed and we are going by taxi rather than train since we have so much luggage and would have to taxi to and from train station on both ends of the trip. We will send more photos when we get settled in Sarajevo. Ciao
