Port of Grace

The Avalon Peninsula, scenic day tour of Conception Bay and all its splendor.

Around every turn on the winding side roads of this peninsula we experienced yet another memorable site. Brigus was like stepping back in time! The birthplace of an Artic explorer, Capt.Robert Abram "Bob" Bartlett who commanded ships in the polar expeditions. The storybook colorful two story homes with their white picket fences. We took in another cute restaurant for lunch. Seems like we are doing this quite often lately... Why Not!! after all we are doing alot of walking to "walk it off". Grace Harbour, eons of history dating back to the "Pirate Admiral" 1610. Peter Easton raided and looted French, Portuguese fishing boats and English vessels in Conception Harbour and the Grand Banks... More recently,1932, the site in Harbour Grace Amelia Earhart took off on a solo flight to Londonderry in Northern Ireland... The peninsula had to be a romantic place to live with little settlements named Cupids, Heart's Desire, Heart's Content, Heart's Delight.....
