Monarch Butterfly, just hatched.

Immature red-tailed hawk

Rose mallow flower.

The birds love this berried-filled shrub.

One of a few birds seen as we walked the boardwalk.

There's a monarch butterfly shelterhouse at the nature center here in the state park. I went in the monarch house yesterday and checked it out again this morning. The photo of the monarch

is in the house. I tried getting a photo of the tree branch that was lined with monarch pupa (the final cocoon stage)but the camera wouldn't focus on a single pupa. The monarch butterfly migrates to Mexico each fall. What a trip for such a fragile thing.

We walked the two-mile boardwalk this morning. It was interesting as the state park was once park of a swamp. There weren't many birds. I was expecting lots of migrating warblers, but only saw two different kinds.

This bird was in its fall plumage--meaning the colors weren't too bright -and I couldn't decide what kind it was.

One of the neighbors here in the c'ground came over with several restaurant brochures. One of the restaurants featured "grinders". This was a new food item for us. It turns out is very similar to a sub, except the homemade bread/bun was shaped differently, more squared than rounded. Now we can say we have had a grinder!

Are you a fan of "MASH"? Jamie Farr, aka Klinger in MASH, is from Toledo. In one of the MASH episodes Klinger mentioned "Tony Packo's". Tony Packo has its own brand of hot dogs and serves many styles of hotdogs. It's not far from here and we may have to try out a Tony Packo hotdog.

Have a great week end. The weather here is gorgeous. There's more color in the trees, the skies are bright blue, the high today was 74 degrees.
