Karen and Vagn at the breakfast table

Vitskoel Kloster outside Loegstoer

I left Bent P. early as I had to get to Sjællands Odde for the ferry over to Aarhus. It was quite a ride on the hydrofoil - waves were 10 meters high and the ship moved from side to side quite a bit. I did not get seasick and arrived safely in Aarhus. I drove pretty fast to get to my aunt Grethe in Hobro for lunch. We had a great lunch again with all the usual delicacies - pickled herring, liver pate, smoked salmon and all the usual sliced meats and ending with cheese tray and apple cobbler with whipping cream!!! Now you know why I have to pay an excess weight surcharge on the way back!!!! At 18:00 I was at my old friend, Vagn, from my time in the Danish Army -- almost hundred years ago!!! It was great seeing him again and his wife, Karen. He has cancer of the prostate and is not 100% right now and I sure to hell hope he will be completely cured. You should meet him - he is real solid farmer from Jylland and is relaxed and helpful - something you hardly ever find now a days. He also speaks "Jysk" which is close to English!!! Karen served a great dinner (as always) and everything was local produce and home-made. They showed me many photos taken in Kansas City where their son, Martin, lives now and had married an American girl. The photos were outstanding and showed a beautiful couple. They just had a baby this Spring and travelled to Farsøe to have their baby christened in a Danish Church - thrilled Vagn and Karen (and family) to no end. After Vagn and I had reminisced about our time in the Danish Army we retired fairly early, they do that in the country!!!
