Costa Rica travel blog

I woke up early again and went for a short run, which was rather painful after a day of surfing. I was secretly hoping that my hip hurt because I had incurred a debilitating injured, solely so I could sound super cool and tell people that a surfing injury prevented me from running the marathon this year. Fortunately (or unfortunately?), I think it is just a bruise.

We did not have to return the surf boards until noon so we hit the waves again after breakfast. Unfortunately, the tide was low in the morning and the waves were awful. Trevor was more persistent than the rest of us and headed further off shore. I boogie boarded for a while, but my patience waned as the tide fell further. Oh well, now we have an excuse to come back to Tamarindo!

We took a cab from the Barcelo into town to return our surfboards. While in town we ate lunch at FT’s, the restaurant deemed to have the best cosado in town. After lunch I got homemade pistachio gelato. Yum!! We walked home along the beach. I took a siesta while Trevor, Tiffany and John watched tennis on T.V.

We had such a delicious dinner at Nougis last week that we returned for round two. I was seriously disappointed with my ahi, even after sending it back (apparently “seared” must be the equivalent Spanish word for “well-done”). Costa Rica played Mexico last night in a World Cup qualifier, and the entire town (including, presumably, the chef) was fixated on the televisions. The fresh chocolate and banana cream pies (and John’s surprisingly tasty steak, which he was nice enough to share) made up for the bland and overcooked fish.
