Nancy and John

L'Anse was our first stop in the upper peninsula of Michigan and also where we were meeting up with Nancy and John our friends from Bonita. The campground was located in a township park and offered electricity only, but the location was worth doing without water and sewer. We arrived slightly before them and set up on a grassy spot over looking Lake Superior. It was a great location with a beautiful view. After we both set up we spent the remainder of the day catching up on everything that has happened since we left Bonita.

The next day we set out for Copper Harbor, a resort area on the shore of Lake Superior. While in the area we also did the Brockway Mountain Drive which takes you up several hundred feet and give a great view of the Lake and surrounding area.

The area around L'Anse is where Henry Ford set up several towns to provide wood used to build his first cars. Still located in the area are a number of original building and we visited one of them, a saw mill. The tour of the mill started in the visitor center where many pictures and tools are located. Then we visited the actual mill which was very interesting and informative. After the mill we stop to visit several waterfalls scattered throughout the area.
