Crean's and the Guys' adventure travel blog

Our train left Paris at 0810 for a 4 hr ride down to Agen where we are to pick up our Locabot and meet up with the rest of our team. We quickly found a cafe for lunch and then settled on a hotel nearby for 50 Euros a couple. Wandered around Agen, visited a 12th century church- beautiful paintings throughout, found the super marche for our supplies and the Locabout depot for the next morning.

Next day we headed off to the depot where we dropped our luggage while we shopped for supplies. Got the bargain of the century when we bought two chickens for 4 Euros! Ken and his team arrived shortly after and by late afternoon we were off. We had planned to cross to the Lot river but it was too dry so ended up heading south from Agen and we spent the first night moored along a treeñlined part of the canal. Enroute we cooked our chooks and drank rose- what a life. Our boat has a cabin fore and aft, both with their own bathrooms, and there is a flybridge where we can all sit with the umbrella up, except when going thru the locks. We have found out that the Lot river is too low so we have come south of Agen for a few days before going into the baise river.
