Where's Malcolm? travel blog

Its a platypus, you'll just have to trust me with this!

Two freshwater turtles at Broken River.

Good morning Teemburra Dam.

One of the many sugarbeet towns in this part of Queensland.

A sugarbeet factory, very stong odour of molasses not included!

The latest in convenience stores.

A kookaburra.

Three days of this!

So my journey south continues with the scenery alternating between dry bushland and sugarbeet plantations. For three days. In between all this I took a side trip to Broken Rover see on of Ozzies most well known and most elusive, the duckbilled platypus. I managed to time my arrival with perfection, no sooner had I taken my place next to the river bank then one came out of its little riverbank hole and glided straight towards us then took a little dive leaving its distinctive trail of small bubbles before surfacing again, definately a highlight.
