We arrived in Saco, Maine yesterday and I have to say it was one of our longest drives from St. Martins NB to Saco took us about 8 hours. It was very foggy and cool when we left St. Martins about 55 degrees but as soon as we crossed the border it hit at 85 degrees unbelievable. We didn't have any problems crossing the border then walked through the trailer and that was about it.
We have to say the time in St. Martin's was fantastic we met a really nice couple Linda and Henry who we spent quite a bit of time with. It was really enjoyable it's the one thing Brian and I miss since we've been on the road is your in a spot for such a short time and normally you meet people and then they leave the next day or so. It's not the same as being at home and having friends close by. Even though we have met some fantastic people whose company we will certainly stay in touch with.
Our last day there the four of us went and found some really neat caves to wander in. They went so far back into the hills unbelievable! The only thing was we stayed a little longer in the caves then expected and the path we used to get out was covered in water so we had to find another way around to get out of them. There were still people back in the caves so Brian called out to them that the tide was coming in pretty quick and by the time everyone got out the caves were really starting to fill. Next time we will be a little more aware of tides!!!
We are staying at a KOA campground in Saco and it is really nice I would highly recommend it. It's only 10 minute drive to the ocean and about the same to all the major shopping here. They escort you to your spot and make sure your all set up and the staff here are really friendly they have a number of work kampers. They have a really nice swimming pool as well even though we prefer the beach.
Today we went to the beach and it was great! The water was warm for ocean water, and the sand here is so beautiful unlike the rocky beaches in St. Martins. We sat next to a couple from Vermont and it ends up he is a dairy farmer and has huge farm. The weather was about 95 degrees today so lets just say we were in and out of the water all day. We could only stay down at the beach for about 4 hours then it just got too hot you couldn't even walk on the sand. It was funny to watch people jumping all over the place because their feet got so hot. Brian loved the huge waves coming in he would dive down and ride it into the shore it was great seeing him have so much fun he loves the water.
We came back to the trailer and this is the first time we've had to have the air conditioner on. We're just getting started getting dinner ready then we are going to go back to the beach walk along it while the sun sets.
We are staying here for five days then we head over to Vermont for seven then to New Hampshire for Gary's wedding. We can't believe the wedding is all of a sudden coming up so fast we are really looking forward to it, Brian is very excited about seeing his son get married and he is so happy Michelle is such a beautiful young woman. Of course there will be another wedding when Mike gets married and he is engaged to Simone who is very special as well. Brian says he feels so happy that his sons have met such fantastic girls to marry and we pray each day that they draw closer and closer to their partners.
Will update you on anything else we are up to while here in Saco, we are just taking a day at a time not really planning anything.
