I started out with all the intentions of making it early to Fargo, ND, but I ran upon the Teddy Roosevelt National Park in North Dakota. Amazing what he did for the country as a conservationist and started putting aside great tracks of land for preservation and use by the citizens. Spent about 3 hours, looking around and watched a large group of prairie dogs, saw at least 3 wild horses and a really huge bison sitting in the shade of a large rock overhang. This is where North Dakota gets its name as the "black hills". Just awesome the views of the rolling hills, the valleys and the colors. Got a few photos, but really do not give you the sense of the beauty and the enormity of the land. After leaving the Roosevelt National Park, the land change to rolling hills, and flat lands and fertile lands of corn, sunflowers, wheat, etc. It is getting close to harvest time and it looks like this area got good moisture from mother nature and help of a great deal of irrigation that will allow for a good harvest. Arrived late into the campground I expected to stay at in West Fargo, ND, but I did not feel comfortable with the area, so I found a Wal-Mart and stayed on their lot for the night instead of the campground.
I've decided there is not enough time to go up into Canada as I hoped so, I am heading south and east towards home.
