Taking it slow and easy. Stopped 8/13, in Sutton, AK, traveled about 117 miles. Got unpacked from moteling it and settled in for the night early.

8/14 found us at a rest area in the Tetlin NF about 60 miles from the Alaska border, 222 miles for the day. There were 4 of us parked for the night and as one set-up dinner on his table, a very friendly fox almost snatched and ran but was foiled in the act. Had a gorgeous sunset, our last Alaskan one.

8/15 We traveled a little further about 247 miles, thru the Kluane Lake region in the Yukon. Beautiful blue/green waters made us think we were at the Caribbean, for a minute anyway-temps told otherwise. Spent the night in Destruction Bay (getting its name from a storm that wiped out many homes and buildings in this area)with the waves slapping the shore at our door step. The roads to this point have been the worse "paved" roads we have encountered. There was a couple who were having their camper fixed at the same shop in Anchorage and they had pulled the king pin off the camper coming over this road. All we know is he certainly couldn't have slowed down much if that's the case.

8/16 Another 249 miles today, Bob not much better. The shot does not seem to have done the miracle we were hoping for. He can get another one in 30 days (a lot of help that is right now). Sitting back and trying to enjoy more beautiful scenery. Once back to Whitehorse, we had completed the Alaska Highway, even though we did it in pieces, we've covered it all.

8/17 Made it to Watson Lake where we will pick-up the Cassiar Highway tomorrow and head south. A little over 250 miles today, seems to be all we can do or want to do. Had our first full day of rain so not much to see. Will post next update in a couple of days.
