| Gordon Writes: The Cassiar Vicki Writes: Had to hurry, we over slept didn’t get on the road till 9:30am, but let me tell you, Canada is breathtaking, it’s so beautiful, the lakes and rivers and beautiful flowers everywhere you look. There are not subdivisions, McDonalds and strip malls everywhere you look. I sure enjoy Canada, Gordon asked me how come your not reading the milepost? I thought to myself, “because YOUR not stopping anywhere there is a point of interest” but I said to him, oh sorry, and I would read to him out of the milepost the points of interest, until I feel asleep, then I’d wake up 20 minutes later and ask him are we in Alaska yet, he’d say NO, would you quit asking me that, we got two more days of driving till we hit the Alaska border, I told you we have to drive through the Yukon yet, so I would say, maybe we should stop for lunch, so I would hop in the back of the camper, make him a fast sandwich and grab my yummy salad. Then back to sleep I went. Then I would wake up again, where are we, he’d say, WERE STILL IN CANADA! For you ladies out there, the mileage signs are not in English they are in KM’s) I cannot do the math. So I would quietly read the milepost to myself so I could read about everything I was missing??/! So I would mention in a very nice way, it’s 10:30pm don’t you think we should stop for the night, your looking a little tired. He’d say, next stop, so this time I stayed awake so I could point out the next stop…which I did at the next hole in the wall. So we stopped to camp and the bathrooms were terrible, there were no hiking trails, but he did walk on the road way with me a little bit. I have no idea what time it is and I don’t even care anymore what I ate for dinner, I’m exhausted.” I said “What did you and Gill talk about on your trip up here?” He said they stopped at these beautiful lakes and fished, but there were tons of mosquitoes, so I said, I will wait here if you want to fish. Gordon realized he programmed the GPS for shortest distance, not fastest, good thing we got that figured out, we are back on track. |
