Wining and dining!!

Just over an hour's drive and we arrived in the heart of wine country.

We stayed in a cottage in Franschhoek, a small village of ~13 thousand residents that's nestled in a valley surrounded by high mountains (snow could be seen on some of the peaks). Very beautiful countryside.

Apart from visiting several wineries (Graham Beck was our favorite) and yummy restaurants, we also went to the site where Nelson Mandela was released from prison. A guard there told us he had met Mr. Mandela several times when he was held there and after he was released. So much pride and respect was in his voice.

After two days in wine country, we had to take Cindy back to the airport. We made a quick stop in the town of Stellenbosch on the way. It's the more famous wine country town, but is much bigger (220 thousand people) and less charming (we thought) than where we'd chosen to stay.

We will miss you Cindy! Thanks so much for the wonderful visit.
