Today Matthew was feeling much better! He's back to his usual self - pushing Dave away, wanting to be my third arm, etc! We woke up early, then had breakfast, went back to the room. It was rainy this morning. We decided to take a taxi back to Shamien Island for some more sight seeing, as we didn't have to meet up with the group until 3:00pm. The taxi there cost us $50 chinese money, going back it cost us $25 chinese money - do you think we got "suckered" the 1st time around???? Anyway, we bought some great gifts for family members there. When we came back, we wanted to try to go to KFC for lunch. However, they didn't understand us and we didn't understand them. The girl told us to point to what we wanted, but even that she didn't understand, so we just left and went to Pizza Hut. Afterwards, we met up with the group to go to the US Consulate. This is where we received Matthew's VISA. This is the END of ALL the paperwork and he is officially, unquestionably OURS! Praise the Lord! We had to stand in a group, raise our right hands and solemnly swear that all our paperwork was truthful and accurate. It seems to me it is a bit silly to do this now, but that is what is required. We received the ever so important "brown envelope" that we were instructucted not to lose or to open up, and to show it at US customs and immigration at Newark airport. The entire group left for Hong Kong afterwards. The Tanner family is the only family going to Shang Hai to leave, so we are here one more night. Sorry, there are no photo updates today. Next time I write will be in good old New Paltz, NY! Thank you everytone for following on our journey and sending us warm wishes and keeping us in your prayers!
