Update: Back in Maryville, Tennessee
Weather; HOT mid 90’s
Hello to all,
Well, we arrived back in Maryville on Thursday afternoon, August 6th, after an eight (8) hour drive down from Winchester, VA. We had a great drive all day and Bud did a good job driving us in on the last leg of our 11 day driving holiday!!!
We dropped off the rental car at the TYS airport and settled back in after our trip. We had logged over 3,700 miles on the HHR since we started our road trip back on the 27th of July. We all agreed that this was a good trip but very “busy” in nature. There was so much stuff to see in such a short time.
It was nice to see the old town again. There is nothing like being home after a long stay away. We really appreciate all the folks that kept up with our travels and sent us e mails of encouragement along the way. A special thanks to our kids for taking care of the house, mowing the grass, and dog setting Chad while we were away. Also, we give thanks to our Lord for watching over us as we traveled the highways of our great land.
Now, we will go over all the literature and pictures we have taken. I know it won’t be long before we will be planning the next big ‘THANG” to see and do. Also, while we were away Chris’s Mom was readmitted to the hospital, so, we must saddle up the camper and head out in the morning and travel over to Manchester, Tennessee and check in with the family there. Please keep Chris’s mom (Ova) in your prayers.
Normally Chris and I travel alone on our travels and adventures, however, on this last trip, as some of you know, we had Bud and Helen Hodge join up with us. We really enjoyed their company and thank them for putting up with us, especially in such close quarters most of the time. Good friends are hard to find and we thank God that we have such good friends as the Hodge’s.
If anyone has any questions or comments concerning our trip please post them here or send me an e mail and I will get back with you.
We are scheduled to depart for Cordele, Ga, in October to work the excursion train for the Georgia State Park. I think we will have Thomas The Tank Engine rides during that time in the park. Will keep you posted of our departure date here in the journal.
In Dad’s memory……the adventure continues……………………..
