Waterfall on the left as we leave Stewart

This was the view for most of the day. We did see...

Lunch--this was an oasis in an otherwise store-less run up to this...

Moricetown sign

Waterfall and bridge where the native americans fished.

The fishing attracted a crowd--John Susan, Diane, Terry, Tom and Wanda look...

Our last travel brief meeting.

Looking from the other end

Day 57/84. 207.6 miles today; 8665.1 miles total this trip.

August 5, 2009

We drove to Smithers from Stewart today. We got a late start because we decided to gas up in Stewart. It took awhile to get the diesel, and we aren’t sure if we got cheated there or not. It seemed like we put a lot more in than we thought we needed. But who knows? Maybe they just forgot to reset the dial on the pump. It was a fairly old & primitive pump.

There wasn’t much to see on the way to Smithers. It was probably some of the most remote looking country we went through. We ate lunch at a truckstop at an intersection to a new road—the Canada 16-theYellowhead highway. Then it was on to Smithers.

We did stop to see a native fishing location at Moricetown. The natives were netting or gaffing salmon at a waterfall. Several of us stopped to take pictures and watch the action.

When we made it into Smithers we were back in civilization. Our cell phones worked, we got the satellite up, and we had golf courses again. We were staying at the Riverside Golf and RV park. We had a big get together for our last travel brief. Tomorrow we got to Prince George, and then we are on our own.
