Our first day of diving here! Today Vikki and I each did 2 dives off of the Perhentian Islands with Turtle Bay Divers, a local dive outfitter which had been recommended to us. My first dive - Vikki took a refresher course and dove separately for this first dive - took us out to a dive spot named "Sea Bell". We went down to a maximum depth of 14.5 meters and dove for 57 minutes. Visibility on this one proved disappointing, however - only 4 meters or so.

The afternoon's dive which Vikki and I both did was at a local dive spot known as Tanjana Basi. We went down to a depth of 17.4 meters and remained under the surface for 58 minutes. This time the visibility underwater turned out to be markedly better: 6 meters.

The waters around the island teem with colorful tropical fish, so from a visual point of view, this seems to be a great place to dive. We will be diving again tomorrow afternoon.

Momentarily we are heading out to one of the beachfront restaurants to grab an ice coffee and watch the sunset from the beach. As one dinner is included in our bungalow room rate, I suspect we will be dining every night at our resort. Long Beach is a great place to chill out and dive for a few days, no doubt about it!
