| An early start today. Spent most of the day on the train, the line hugging the coast most of the way, apart from the long tunnels through mountains. We changed trains at Genova, Ventimiglia, Nice and Marseille, finally arriving at Avignon at 8pm. All went to plan, apart from the non existent train we were meant to catch at Ventimiglia, which resulted in us missing our pre booked eurostar from Nice to Avignon. This meant that Ali was able to have a 1.5 squiz at Nice, including its famous promenade. We had some fantastic views of the Italian and French Riveria along the way and the day passed quickly. A short taxi ride and 30 euros later we arrived at Le Mas De Amandiers, our hotel for the night. It is in a beautiful country setting and we thoroughly enjoyed our first 3 course French meal (pre paid!). |
