Waldport is some 15 or so miles south of Newport. It is a picturesque coastal town with the ubiquitous bay bridge, although the original 1930's historic bridge has been recently replaced.
We were thinking of moving down here for a few days (weeks?) but alas, there are no nice looking RV parks. And while the town is very picturesque, there does not seem to be a lot to do if you don't fish.
We did our homework before we came and read the brochures and ads, and decided to have dinner at the Flounder Inn, "proudly" serving diners since 1970-something. Whatever you do, DO NOT EAT HERE. Although you might be hypnotized by the ad's delicious sounding food....IT IS A MYTH. Be not led into Temptation. Final thoughts on this subject: When on the Oregon Coast, alongside the water, do not settle for pre-packaged frozen fish.
